MIFEPRISTONE:Information for Options Counseling

Your patient has tested positive for pregnancy. It is your job as a family planning or other health care provider to use a client centered approach to explore all options: prenatal care and delivery, adoption, and pregnancy termination . The newest option is Mifepristone, the non-surgical, medical alternative to surgical abortion. This 12-minute video presents an overview of Mifepristone information from an options counseling perspective. Information presented includes a description of Mifepristone, how it works, appropriate use, and who would be appropriate candidates for its use. Advantages and disadvantages of Mifepristone are discussed in a fair, objective manner. Included with this video is a facilitator’s guide, which can be used by trainers, managers, and other staff to help counselors and clinicians discuss and learn about Mifepristone.
